Why do we use eyelet on paper bag?

In fact paper bag have become a popular retail packaging product. Since some countries forbidden to use plastic bags, some retailer like to use paper bags and non woven bags. Perhaps you can find some paper bags have eyelets, why do we use eyelet on paper bag?

Usually we just punch 4 holes  on top of bag to tie rope,but some customer want eyelet on the rope hole, in fact if we make bag with eyelet, it will take more time to install eyelet on rope holes, so the cost of hand work will increase too.But what purpose of eyelet is? To reinforce  durability of bag ! with eyelets, we can carry heavy good by paper bags, and it can protect the top of bag not to be teared by rope.

In fact we have two kinds of eyelet: metal and plastic. and no matter what background color of paper bags is, eyeley can match this color.
